E&O Seminars

EOHappensLogo.jpgMAIA offers E&O seminars that qualify for a credit for Swiss Re, Utica and Allianz E&O policies. Classes are typically held in March in Columbia, and in the fall at various locations around the state, and there are also webinars throughout the year. Please check the master education calendar to find the next class; filter the Categories for "E&O" to find the qualifying classes. The chart below outlines the attendance requirements for Swiss Re and Utica. 

ABOUT THE COURSE

The E&O seminar can help members reduce their E&O exposure based on real-life examples from other agencies, including some recent E&O cases. The course is taught by experienced instructors who have worked in the insurance and/or the legal profession.

CONTINUING EDUCATION

Spring classes are generally filed for 3 ethics credits in Missouri and Kansas.

Fall classes are filed for 3 ethics credits and the Agency Compliance Seminar is filed for 1 ethics credit in Missouri and Kansas.

COURSE TOPICS

The course covers fundamentals in today's ever-changing agency operations, including:
  • Understanding duties owed to both carriers and customers
  • Reviewing the most frequent E&O claims using real-life examples
  • Agency defenses such as documentation, disclaimers and consistent procedures
  • Exploring exposures within the agency's daily operations
  • Issues with certificates of insurance
  • Considerations of social media
  • Limiting exposures to data breaches and more
