MAIA member agencies that write RLI personal umbrella policies through the association for their clients need to be aware of forthcoming changes to the application. Beginning July 1, RLI will replace the existing application with a new version that includes several updates to the form.
Updates include: amended and added definitions, who is covered, exclusions from coverage, limits of insurance, and an amended duty to defend the insured section. Members who write RLI policies through MAIA should review these changes in their entirety in order to be fully aware of the policy conditions when explaining coverage to clients.
Member agencies that utilize the RLI portal to submit applications will automatically be directed to the updated application for policy effective dates of July 1 or later. However, if a paper application is used, agency personnel should ensure they are using the new updated application form PUP276(01/21). Submissions received with effective dates of July 1 or later, on the previous application form, will be returned to the submitting agency for resubmittal on the updated application.
