Day at the Capitol

MAIA's Day at the Capitol is designed to give members and others the opportunity to learn more about insurance legislation being considered by the Missouri Legislature, and time to meet with elected officials to express their views.

The Day at the Capitol is typically held in early March each year at the Capitol Plaza Hotel in Jefferson City. The day gets started at 9:15 a.m. with our NEW Greetings & Coffee session followed by a tour of the Capitol building; this was created for the young agents and first-time attendees, but anyone is welcome. Then we all meet back at Capitol Plaza Hotel at 2:30 for a one-hour issues briefing led by MAIA CEO Matt Barton and MAIA's lobbyists. This briefing will prepare you for your visits with your state senators and representatives. At 3:30, attendees head over to the Capitol for their visits with the legislators. At 5:30, attendees head back to Capitol Plaza Hotel for a legislative panel and buffet dinner.

Members of NAIFA-MO and MOAHU also join MAIA at the Day at the Capitol, increasing our representation with the legislators.
